Announcements 11/18/09
Hey 6th graders! The Dinner and a Movie social is coming up on December 1st. You need to exchange your permission slip for a ticket. You can do this at lunch. Just find the tables with the WEB leaders in the Quad and exchange your signed permission slip for your ticket. Don’t lose your ticket because you will need it to get into the social! So don’t forget- get your permission slip signed by your parents and exchange it for a ticket to Dinner and a Movie in the Quad starting today!
The eClub's Walk-One-Week WOW has begun! Until November 18, please remember to walk or bike to and from school to help the earth and win cool prizes like $50 iTunes, Yogurtland, Strike bowling, and many more. In the WOW activity, you may also carpool but you only get half the points. And for those who live too far away, remember that you only need to walk 4 blocks to count! During advisory last week, you should have received a WOW brochure but if you didn't, you can come to the office and pick one up. Make sure to fill out the log in the back of the brochure. And guess what? The newspaper press people will be coming to Lawson on Wednesday so make sure they see you walking. So come and Walk-One-Week WOW!
Okay Lawson...it is that time of year again...What time you ask?
Time for the annual Lawson TURKEY TROT!
What is the turkey trot? It is a race that happens during lunch on Tuesday, November 24th. You race against your grade level and try to win bragging rights while wearing the Turkey Trot medal! In addition, prizes will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Yes, YOU can be a part of this Lawson tradition. How, you ask? Just sign up some time this week with your PF teacher. Hope to see you on the course!!!
Holiday Fair meetings will be this week at lunch. Check the student store window for your day and location. Remember to bring your lunch and be on time!
There is a Student Council meeting today AT LUNCH in room 21. Don't forget to bring your red folders.
Have you noticed that bright star in the sky just after sunset? That isn’t a star—It’s the planet Jupiter. Lawson Astronomy Nights are back. This coming Monday the 23rd, Team G will be hosting the first of two special nights. Come look through a telescope and view the stars and Jupiter with its moons spread out like diamonds. Who can attend? All Lawson Students are welcome. Bring your whole family. You can pickup a flyer in Room 13. Remember the first of two Astronomy nights is this coming Monday, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Come join us!
Cupertino High School is having a Turkey Trot for their project, The Kenya Dream. The Turkey Trot will be after school on November 24th. Come to the office to pick up a flyer with more information.
The Tech Club is back. In the Tech Club you will learn many applications. A few that you will be learning are iMovie, Scratch, Sketch up, Comic Life and even HTML coding. After every application that you learn you will have a contest and the winner gets a prize. The club will meet every Friday at lunch at the computer lab, starting this Friday, November 20th. Remember, no eating in the Computer lab so you’ll have to eat your lunch and then come to the club. So come and enjoy this Friday at the Tech Club!
Laser Club will be meeting today at lunch in room 35! See you then!
The Knitting and Sewing Club meets every Thursday in room 11 at lunch. Right now, students, Shivani and Sanika, are teaching everyone how to knit scarves because it is getting cold outside! There's even knitting supplies available if you haven't bought yours yet. So come on overafter eating lunch every Thursday in room 11.
8th grade girls Volleyball had an awesome game against Kennedy. The girls played hard. Nithya kept the game going with her serving. Melissa played a great game at the net. Her tips earned the team several points. Kelly was able to put the ball in play by her amazing bumming. Good team work girls! Ms. Corcoran's proud of you. Lets go get Gram this Thursday!
The Lawson C team girls Volleyball team has been on a 3 game winning streak which started out last Tuesday when they bested Sunnyvale middle school in 2 games. In the next match last Thursday, Colombia played hard, but your girls Volleyball C team won the best of five match in 3
games to 2. Last night was an exciting match with Kennedy. Kennedy had lost only one match this season when they met a fierce and focused Lady Lightning C team. Your girls put another victory in the wincolumn winning 3 games to 1. Congratulations to Therese B., Casey B., Maddie C., Shaleyna H., Kaliko L, Leilani L., Rachel P., Michelle P., Janaye S, Neha S, Allison W, and Kathryn Z. on their hard work andgood results.
Attention ALL volleyball teams, it is picture day on Thursday before we play Graham. We will all be in our jerseys so don't forget to clean them.
